THE TRICK TO MONEY IS HAVING SOME!

and it is played very, very loud. This tweaks your attention as you walk in, for most New Age stores play that alkaline tinkle, tinkle music that sounds like three dogs piddling in a tin. In contrast, his rousing music has a way of sparking you up, calling you to action, which helps sales. Further, I noticed that every so often he would go around and touch each and very item in the place. He especially cared to touch, and turn, all items that were on sale or with which he was stuck. He explained that within a few days of his touching an item and caring for it, he invariably sold it. By injecting your products with your energy you change them.

Years ago, traveling in the western United States I came upon a shop that sold household ornaments—porcelain figures, stained glass, pot-pourri, that kind of stuff. What was interesting about this operation was that the shop was so well laid out. It had such a magical atmosphere that everyone wanted to go into it just to look around. So the owner charged people just to enter the store.

What a fascinating idea, and very metaphysical! If you can get a buck, say, from everyone who enters your store, you then have no emotion about whether you sell your products or not, for you can make $30,000 a month and sell nothing. In fact, everything you have in the store could be nailed down, why would you care? Once you have no emotion about selling or not selling, you detach. As your feelings detach, that creates an energy vacuum around you that naturally pulls people in. And as you are not involved mentally in the selling or not selling of things, the customer is more relaxed. He or she can savor the magic of your store without pressure. Thus the customer is captivated by the energy of the place and actually buys twice as much, whether he or she wants the item or not. Thus you sell the magic, not the item.

I went back to that store many times, mainly to understand the system. I noticed that many of the customers were holiday makers. They would pay their entrance fee
